If Sub Zero refrigerators are worth the amount of money I am frequently asked by my customers. My answer is always the same - perhaps. Allow me to explain...

My answer is always positively, If you are referring to longevity, total quality, and food preservation! And if the price tag ties in your budget, it's a no-brainer in my experience. I held one a couple of years ago and can let you know my bananas lasted as much as two months (which was extraordinary considering my produce team background! ); cheese left on a plate (as an experiment) didn't shape or crust over after a and an opened box of ice cream was still fresh after obtaining it more than a and a half later.

Sub Zero claims a family could save as much as $25 a week in food spoilage because of the combined refrigeration system. I always thought that was a high state until I held one and believed as a bachelor I was keeping about $10 weekly. If you're a Costco buyer and like to buy things like the multi pack of Romaine lettuce and find you can not allow it to be past two mind before they spoil, the more humid pocket Sub Zero gives will give you more time to complete the package of lettuce.

An important benefit of having a dual refrigeration process as Sub Zero has is endurance. The common life of the refrigerator today is about 10.5 years. Sub Zero's average life-cycle is 17 years. (Climate includes a contributing factor. In the Pacific Northwest where it is cooler than in the southern U.S., refrigerators do not need to work as hard because of a lower climate. It's perhaps not un-common to discover Sub Zero appliances lasting beyond twenty years here.) The cause of an extended lifetime is largely as a result of having two compressors. While the freezer is cooled by the other the refrigerator is cooled by one. Most other appliances have one compressor that's working most constantly. It does not take much imagination to see the dual system lasts longer.

Total quality is very good because these refrigerators continue to be built mainly by hand and in the united states. They're a family-owned company and just take great pride within their product.

So I hear you saying, "Why does Consumer Reports show a greater rate of repair?" Consumer Reports show company history for products and services under warranty. It is a small disadvantage for organizations using a nice guarantee including Sub Zero. Many businesses offer a 1 year parts and labor warranty with up to 5 years on parts. Sub Zero supplies the companies strongest guarantee - up-to 1-2 years on the system and 2 whole years parts and labor! One other point C.R. Does not let you know is that a lot of the service calls have to do with improper installation (water / icemaker not working since the company did not change the water valve on, etc.) and sometimes even for something as simple as a broken icemaker. Icemakers would be the Achilles Heal of the applying world. For as effective as sub zero wine cooler is, they use icemakers created by Whirlpool. You can find very few icemaker producers to choose from on the market.

If you've a big family and you're at the grocery store several times a week, do not plan on being in your house for more than 7 years, or if you're like a of mine who while writing his check-out for his Sub Zero proclaimed, "$8000.00 just to keep my beer cold", you can do just as well with some thing under $2000 - depending on your home design. However, if it meets the budget, I'll recommend purchasing a Sub Zero.
